| According to popular legend, the architects of this building chose its dark green and gold colors based on a gold-foiled champagne bottle seen at an office holiday party. Whether true or not, the resulting color combination and Art Deco-style detailing make it one of the most-distinctive features on the Chicago skyline. The building's lobby also is a classic of Art Deco design, with exceptionally fine bronzework and black marble. | |
